Increases are seen in benign and malignant processes. Serum lysozyme is elevated in patients with acute or chronic granulocytic or monocytic leukemias and levels decrease with successful treatment. Conversely, patients with lymphocytic leukemia may have depressed plasma lysozyme levels.
